Playing in the snow is a wonderful way to encourage communication and learn new words. While getting dressed for the cold weather, building a snowman, having a snowball fight, sledding, and drinking hot chocolate, encourage the following words:

• Clothing - mittens, hat, gloves, boots, scarf, coat, pants, socks

• Body parts

• Describing words - cold, chilly, freezing, wet, dry, slushy, white, hot (cocoa), fast, slow, icy

• Location words - on, off, in, out, up, down

• Verbs - scoop, stomp, throw, roll, pat, pull, push, sit, walk, go, drink, sip, blow, fall, zip
